Bench in situ

Mosaic and cast concrete bench £5000.

The mosaic benches are one-offs, the bench featured here is for that late afternoon summer drink in the garden and the "under-the-microscope" details all relate to that activity, a drop of beer magnified, a drop of scotch, barley, yeast etc all come together as constituents of the theme.

The bench design could be literally anything, family memories, personal artefacts, a hobby, a history, a person, a time of year, family pets, but always a bespoke personal statement, unique to the client.

In practical terms the bench is a heavy item which impedes theft and is robust which deters unwanted damage. It requires no maintenance other than a wipe-clean in the Spring.

Each of the three elements are cast in an aggregated concrete in moulds with the hand-made mosaic elements laid into the mould before casting. The bench is comprised of just three elements, two supports and a seat. The seat slab has six 10mm steel rebars built into the casting so can withstand weight across its unsupported length. The two supports have circular holes either front to back or side to side and like the seat are clad with rich mosaic materials, these can be standard colours or rich gold/silver leafed mosaics, irridised mosaics, marble tesserae or Italian water glass.

If you are considering commissioning one of our bespoke benches we will respond to discuss your requirements and give you a detailed estimate of works along with details of how your design idea could be achieved. Click on any image to open larger in a new window.
